In Absentia

Winner of the 1st Triggerstreet.com Online Short Film Festival, 2003. In Absentia is an excursion into the precious last moments, feelings and thoughts of a young person's life. Filmmaker - In Absentia is the second film to be made by directing duo James Kibbey and Richard Heald. The first was a longer 58-minute production, TEXT, which followed the lives of two young men at university as they struggled to get to grips with the perils of attracting suitable women.

In Absentia was made on no budget and shot whilst James and Richard were attending Nottingham University (UK). The screenplay was crafted over a six-month period to produce a piece that would utilize the strengths of digital video. The film is designed to be an innovative yet evocative study of suicide, but most of all it shows how love can transcend loneliness, fear and even death.

Along with producer, and fellow director Tristan Goligher they have recently founded thinkDV, a video production company dedicated to the medium of digital video. Its output is a mixture of creative and commercial production. Having recently completed a corporate video for a major UK plc, thinkDV is currently in post-production on its next short film, "In The Dark".
